School Uniform

Ambition, Confidence, Happiness and Respect.

We are delighted by the numbers of pupils who wear our school uniform and with the numbers of parents who support our dress code.

Following consultation with staff, pupils and parents, we reviewed our school uniform policy in 2022. Our dress code is:

  • Black dress trousers, black jeans, or black skirt (No shorts, cargo trousers, tracksuit bottoms, or leggings)
  • White school shirt or blouse with school tie

and/or

  • Plain white t-shirt with a black school-branded sweatshirt / jumper
  • Black shoes or black trainers

There is no compulsion to have a school branded jersey if the school tie is worn and families can readily buy plain black v neck jerseys should they wish.

 Optional items:

  • Black blazer with school badge

The school will hold a stock of blazers for special occasions should groups of pupils need to wear one.  These are also available to buy online – details below

  • School fleece

 School-branded sweatshirt / jumper

The school-branded Russell crew neck sweatshirt, Banner V-neck jumper and micro fibre fleece all feature a white version of our traditional school badge on a plain black background.

The crew neck sweatshirt costs £22.20.  The V-neck costs £28.50.  These items can be purchased online for free click and collect from any BE Schoolwear shop (stores include Kirkcaldy, Dundee and Edinburgh) or for home delivery charge of £5.99 for orders under £75.  Look out for online sale prices offered and discounts for larger orders!

We have different designs for Juniors (S1-S3), Seniors (S4-6) and for S6 Prefects. All new S1’s will receive a free Junior tie on the transition days in June. When pupils change from S3 to S4 they will receive a free Senior tie and when pupils change from S5 to S6 they will receive a free Prefect tie

Any replacement tie orders can be placed and paid for in cash/by cheque at the General Office or via IpayImpact and collected at the school General Office priced at £6.00 for Junior/Senior ties and £9 for Prefect ties: https://www.ipayimpact.co.uk/IPI/mgslp?Bref=Fife

We would also like to remind parents that the following items of clothing are NOT acceptable to our dress code and so should not be worn to school – jeans (other than black), tracksuit bottoms (except for PE), white trainers (except for PE), football tops, tops with offensive slogans, low-cut tops, large hoop earrings, facial piercing jewellery, brightly coloured shoes.

As a school we believe that uniform is an important aspect of school safety as it means that we can identify our own pupils very quickly.  It is also important for letting our pupils share a sense of belonging to our school community.  We believe that our pupils and our school are the best and we want them to wear their uniform with pride.

POINTS TO NOTE

 - Appropriate jumpers/tops can be worn in class

 - Outdoor coats should be removed in class

There may be circumstances that prevent pupils from wearing uniform – a crisis at home, broken washing machine, not staying in the home where the uniform is kept etc.  In these cases, the pupil should bring in a note for that day.  This should be countersigned and dated by their Guidance teacher.

Clothing grants are available for families on low income.  For details please click here https://www.standrewsrchs.org.uk/Free-School-Meals-and-Clothing-Grant/?skipHAP=y

If you have any items of uniform your child may have grown out of that are still in good condition, we will happily accept donations at the main reception or general office.  Thank you
